Model School
Attendance was poor, varied from 15percent -35 percent mostly, as parents are often unwilling to send their children to school ( need for parent counselling system ). We started sending the teacher to the nearby houses to motivate the parents and logbook was maintained , the results have been dramatic and attendance has increased beyond 40 percent in each school.
In some of our schools we found that teachers were simply gathering the students and no proper teaching was imparted. We closed all schools which were not prepared to change their time to morning hours, thus eliminating the non serious / casual ones.
We have introduced music, PT and other activities to generate further interest amongst the students.
We conduct training sessions for our teachers in which renowned persons from education field like Mr Kamesh Bajpai ( researcher on child skill development), Dr Mrs Vijaylakshmi Trivedi ( ex principal AND college ) train the teachers on primary education teaching skills. We take teachers test every month and link it to their performance and progress.
We develop feeling of National Pride and Love for the country by narrating stories, arranging educational movie shows, and including desh bhakti songs in our curriculum.
We found that the attendance of students was irregular and turnover was high. We introduced the parent teacher meeting , and motivated the parents about the benefits of sending their children and about the level of education in prerna schools, the attendance improved and we started getting consistent attendance.
On 15th April 2010 we placed the benches and tables donated by Kanpur Junior Chamber in class I - IV in G Block Gujaini School,. When we adopted this school three months back there were only 12 children and one shikshamitra and now we have four teachers and 120 children in this school.

The difference in the atmosphere between conducting classes with children sitting on the floor and on tables- benches is unbelievable.
