Home School
Prerna initially started work by opening 15 home schools in the slum areas of Kanpur and picked up children firm extremely poor family and teaching them in these schools, thereby preparing then for admission in government schools.

This home school was replaced by Govt. School adoption model after brain storming by Board of Directors.
We look for willing teachers in and around slum areas with sufficient place to accommodate 50 children.
We pay the teachers a salary of Rs 800 per month for conducting class for 2.5 hours.
We provide the blackboard, chalk, copies, pencils , rubber etc . We also provide candies as incentive for children to attend the classes.
We perform weekly random unscheduled visits to ensure that classes are actually being held, ensuring attendance and method and content of teaching. We have appointed a full time Pricipal/ Co-ordinator assissted by a vice principal for this.
We try to ensure that children are mostly those who don’t go to other schools, so that the most deprived can benefit.
We are following the sarv shiksha abhiyan or “ lakshya “ syllabus formulated by the government for primary education.
We conduct flag hoisting on 26th Jan / 15th august.
We also conduct tests and exam periodically and provided report cards to the children who passed the examination.
Progress of students is ensured through history cards which are maintained by teachers and checked by our principal /
co-ordinator. We quantify the progress by filling up the marks of the tests.
Our focus is on all round development of children for which we have appointed a yoga teacher, a music and sports teacher etc.
